Are we living in a state of apostasy right now? Many Christians would be shocked to know that it was foretold by Our Lord and His apostles that there would be an apostasy before He returned. Some believe it will not happen until the antichrist arrives; others believe it has already happened. Some believe it is talking about a small faction, but most are not aware that what is prophesied is a wide-spread apostasy overtaking the entirety of Christianity.
Parable of Wheat and Tares
The following parable makes it perfectly clear that after Jesus would teach His Good News, i.e., sow His wheat, the devil would come along and sow his false gospel. The two would “group up together” until the end. It just does not say what percent would be wheat, and what percent would be tares:
24 Another parable put he forth unto them, saying, The kingdom of heaven is likened unto a man which sowed good seed in his field:
25 But while men slept, his enemy came and sowed tares among the wheat, and went his way.
26 But when the blade was sprung up, and brought forth fruit, then appeared the tares also.
27 So the servants of the householder came and said unto him, Sir, didst not thou sow good seed in thy field? from whence then hath it tares?
28 He said unto them, An enemy hath done this. The servants said unto him, Wilt thou then that we go and gather them up?
29 But he said, Nay; lest while ye gather up the tares, ye root up also the wheat with them.
30 Let both grow together until the harvest: and in the time of harvest I will say to the reapers, Gather ye together first the tares, and bind them in bundles to burn them: but gather the wheat into my barn.
36 Then Jesus sent the multitude away, and went into the house: and his disciples came unto him, saying, Declare unto us the parable of the tares of the field.
37 He answered and said unto them, He that soweth the good seed is the Son of man;
38 The field is the world; the good seed are the children of the kingdom; but the tares are the children of the wicked one;
39 The enemy that sowed them is the devil; the harvest is the end of the world; and the reapers are the angels.
40 As therefore the tares are gathered and burned in the fire; so shall it be in the end of this world.
41 The Son of man shall send forth his angels, and they shall gather out of his kingdom all things that offend, and them which do iniquity;
42 And shall cast them into a furnace of fire: there shall be wailing and gnashing of teeth.
43 Then shall the righteous shine forth as the sun in the kingdom of their Father. Who hath ears to hear, let him hear. (Matthew 13)
Times of Refreshing
Here, Peter says that Jesus would return to “refresh” The Good News He originally preached. It will happen when His glory is poured out, i.e., “shall have of the presence of the Lord”:
19 Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, when the times of refreshing shall come from the presence of the Lord;
20 And he shall send Jesus Christ, which before was preached unto you: (Acts 3)
19 Repent ye therefore and turn ye, your sins may be done away when the time of refreshing cometh which we shall have of the presence of the Lord.
20 And when God shall send him which before was preached unto that is Jesus Christ. (Acts 3:19 WTB)
19 Repent ye therefore and convert, that your sins may be done away, when the time of refreshing shall come, in the presence of the Lord
20 And he shall send Jesus Christ, which before was preached unto you. (Acts 3 BB)
Paul makes it clear, there will be an “apostasy” before Jesus returns:
1 Now we request you, brethren, with regard to the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ and our gathering together to Him,
2 that you not be quickly shaken from your composure or be disturbed either by a spirit or a message or a letter as if from us, to the effect that the day of the Lord has come.
3 Let no one in any way deceive you, for it will not come unless the apostasy comes first, and the man of lawlessness is revealed, the son of destruction, (2 Thessalonians 2 NASB)
False Prophets, Apostles, Teachers
As was already stated on the Home Page, Jesus and the apostles prophesied there would be many “false prophets,” “false teachers,” and “false apostles.” They will all come using the name of Jesus, and they will perform great “signs and wonders.”
Not Sparing The Flock
Paul said that false teachers would emerge from within the body of Christ and would “distort the truth” and “none” would be spared; all would apostatize:
29 I know that false teachers, like vicious wolves, will come in among you after I leave, not sparing the flock.
30 Even some men from your own group will rise up and distort the truth in order to draw a following. (Acts 20 NLT)
It was so clear to Paul that he says he warned Believers for “day and night” for “three years” and with “tears”:
Therefore watch, and remember, that by the space of three years I ceased not to warn every one night and day with tears. (Acts 20:31)
The most damning prophecies are in The Revelation of John. Most Christians would never believe that the “Whore” and “Babylon” mentioned therein are referring to Christians. In regards to the “Whore,” many Christians have concluded it is the Roman Catholic Church, and the city is Rome.
Indeed there is tremendous pomp in Catholicism; anyone who knows its history knows that everything described below truly did happen within the RCC. However, what is missed by Protestant critics is the fact that their very own denominations were derived from the Whore, and they too have many of the same falsehoods:
1 And there came one of the seven angels which had the seven vials, and talked with me, saying unto me, Come hither; I will shew unto thee the judgment of the great whore that sitteth upon many waters:
2 With whom the kings of the earth have committed fornication, and the inhabitants of the earth have been made drunk with the wine of her fornication.
3 So he carried me away in the spirit into the wilderness: and I saw a woman sit upon a scarlet coloured beast, full of names of blasphemy, having seven heads and ten horns.
4 And the woman was arrayed in purple and scarlet colour, and decked with gold and precious stones and pearls, having a golden cup in her hand full of abominations and filthiness of her fornication:
5 And upon her forehead was a name written, Mystery, Babylon the Great, the Mother of Harlots and Abominations of the Earth.
6 And I saw the woman drunken with the blood of the saints, and with the blood of the martyrs of Jesus: and when I saw her, I wondered with great admiration.
15 And he saith unto me, The waters which thou sawest, where the whore sitteth, are peoples, and multitudes, and nations, and tongues.
18 And the woman which thou sawest is that great city, which reigneth over the kings of the earth.
The Beast mentioned in the following stanza is the main character behind the perversion of Christianity. Proof that the Whore is Christianity is found in verses 14 and 16. The time will come when the Beast will turn on the Whore and betray her. He will “make war with the lamb” and “hate the whore,” the two being the same (i.e., the wheat & the tares):
7 And the angel said unto me, Wherefore didst thou marvel? I will tell thee the mystery of the woman, and of the beast that carrieth her, which hath the seven heads and ten horns.
8 The beast that thou sawest was, and is not; and shall ascend out of the bottomless pit, and go into perdition: and they that dwell on the earth shall wonder, whose names were not written in the book of life from the foundation of the world, when they behold the beast that was, and is not, and yet is.
9 And here is the mind which hath wisdom. The seven heads are seven mountains, on which the woman sitteth.
10 And there are seven kings: five are fallen, and one is, and the other is not yet come; and when he cometh, he must continue a short space.
11 And the beast that was, and is not, even he is the eighth, and is of the seven, and goeth into perdition.
12 And the ten horns which thou sawest are ten kings, which have received no kingdom as yet; but receive power as kings one hour with the beast.
13 These have one mind, and shall give their power and strength unto the beast.
14 These shall make war with the Lamb, and the Lamb shall overcome them: for he is Lord of lords, and King of kings: and they that are with him are called, and chosen, and faithful.
16 And the ten horns which thou sawest upon the beast, these shall hate the whore, and shall make her desolate and naked, and shall eat her flesh, and burn her with fire.
17 For God hath put in their hearts to fulfil his will, and to agree, and give their kingdom unto the beast, until the words of God shall be fulfilled. (Revelation 17)
The Whore IS Babylon, they are not two different entities. Verse five above refers to the Whore as Babylon the Great. Because Babylon existed before the Whore, it was incorporated into her and that is why the two are the same. What is significant here is that she is “full of devils” and “every foul spirit.”
Verse 4 concedes that Babylon the Whore IS Christianity saying to “come out of her,” so Believers are not found guilty of condoning her practices and receive her judgments.
Verse 13 also confirms it’s Christianity with the reference to the trafficking of the “souls of men.”
Verse 20 tells us she was responsible for the death of “apostles and prophets” which confirms we are talking about the Roman Empire (which became the “Roman” Catholic Church), and Verse 24 mentions the death of “prophets and Saints” which refers to the many Christians who were burned at the stake (and killed other ways) by the RCC and Protestants.
Verse 23 is describing a typical Christian church/cathedral with candles and weddings, and the mention of “deception” confirms again it is Christianity.
[Summary: souls of men (v.13) + deception (v.23) = Christianity]
1 And after these things I saw another angel come down from heaven, having great power; and the earth was lightened with his glory.
2 And he cried mightily with a strong voice, saying, Babylon the great is fallen, is fallen, and is become the habitation of devils, and the hold of every foul spirit, and a cage of every unclean and hateful bird.
3 For all nations have drunk of the wine of the wrath of her fornication, and the kings of the earth have committed fornication with her, and the merchants of the earth are waxed rich through the abundance of her delicacies.
4 And I heard another voice from heaven, saying, Come out of her, my people, that ye be not partakers of her sins, and that ye receive not of her plagues.
5 For her sins have reached unto heaven, and God hath remembered her iniquities.
6 Reward her even as she rewarded you, and double unto her double according to her works: in the cup which she hath filled fill to her double.
7 How much she hath glorified herself, and lived deliciously, so much torment and sorrow give her: for she saith in her heart, I sit a queen, and am no widow, and shall see no sorrow.
8 Therefore shall her plagues come in one day, death, and mourning, and famine; and she shall be utterly burned with fire: for strong is the Lord God who judgeth her.
9 And the kings of the earth, who have committed fornication and lived deliciously with her, shall bewail her, and lament for her, when they shall see the smoke of her burning,
10 Standing afar off for the fear of her torment, saying, Alas, alas, that great city Babylon, that mighty city! for in one hour is thy judgment come.
11 And the merchants of the earth shall weep and mourn over her; for no man buyeth their merchandise any more:
12 The merchandise of gold, and silver, and precious stones, and of pearls, and fine linen, and purple, and silk, and scarlet, and all thyine wood, and all manner vessels of ivory, and all manner vessels of most precious wood, and of brass, and iron, and marble,
13 And cinnamon, and odours, and ointments, and frankincense, and wine, and oil, and fine flour, and wheat, and beasts, and sheep, and horses, and chariots, and slaves, and souls of men.
14 And the fruits that thy soul lusted after are departed from thee, and all things which were dainty and goodly are departed from thee, and thou shalt find them no more at all.
15 The merchants of these things, which were made rich by her, shall stand afar off for the fear of her torment, weeping and wailing,
16 And saying, Alas, alas, that great city, that was clothed in fine linen, and purple, and scarlet, and decked with gold, and precious stones, and pearls!
17 For in one hour so great riches is come to nought. And every shipmaster, and all the company in ships, and sailors, and as many as trade by sea, stood afar off,
18 And cried when they saw the smoke of her burning, saying, What city is like unto this great city!
19 And they cast dust on their heads, and cried, weeping and wailing, saying, Alas, alas, that great city, wherein were made rich all that had ships in the sea by reason of her costliness! for in one hour is she made desolate.
20 Rejoice over her, thou heaven, and ye holy apostles and prophets; for God hath avenged you on her.
21 And a mighty angel took up a stone like a great millstone, and cast it into the sea, saying, Thus with violence shall that great city Babylon be thrown down, and shall be found no more at all.
22 And the voice of harpers, and musicians, and of pipers, and trumpeters, shall be heard no more at all in thee; and no craftsman, of whatsoever craft he be, shall be found any more in thee; and the sound of a millstone shall be heard no more at all in thee;
23 And the light of a candle shall shine no more at all in thee; and the voice of the bridegroom and of the bride shall be heard no more at all in thee: for thy merchants were the great men of the earth; for by thy sorceries were all nations deceived.
24 And in her was found the blood of prophets, and of saints, and of all that were slain upon the earth. (Revelation 18)
Angel That Flies
The following prophecy is important for several reasons:
- It confirms that the Good News is “eternal,” or unchanging; nothing needs to be added to it
- It confirms that the Good News would need to be sent again
- It confirms that the Good News will need to go to all the world before the end comes (Mat.24:14)
And I saw another angel flying through the sky, carrying the eternal Good News to proclaim to the people who belong to this world–to every nation, tribe, language, and people. (Revelation 14:6 NLT)
The fact that Apostate Christianity is going to be judged has been prophesied by many modern prophets and can be read on the www.cutshort.org/prophecies page. Fewer prophets have prophesied the fact that churches will be destroyed in the process. Nevertheless, here are three, “in the mouth of two or three witnesses shall every word be established.” (Mat.18:16)
Percy Collett – 1984
Percy Collett was taken to heaven for a whopping 5.5 days and was shown what effect the poured-out glory will have, including the destruction of churches:
The River of Life is filling up and then it will pour forth…and in that river is love…the spirit of God is different than the Holy Ghost…when this is full to its banks, then God will open the flood gates and after that I’ll come for my people, I’ll come for my church, I’ll come for my own. I will leave heaven in my heavenly body…He said it won’t be long because it’s filling up.
When He opens the flood gates it’s going to flood all through.
Now who’s going to accept this? Those who are looking for The Great Explosion. Your part now is to prepare and get ready for The Great Explosion. Then there are those here who will get it. The prayer warriors…For those who are ready for it…it will go right down into the bellies of those who are ready to accept it, as it fills their bellies with it, God’s power will come out of their bellies and they will start to speak forth with authority, devils and diseases will begin to move back and this explosion will be so great it will rock the earth.
They’ll [Overcomers & Intercessors] get out and preach in the streets, here there and everywhere…he’ll have so much fire in his soul and by the power of the spirit of God [not the Holy Ghost] and crowds will begin to gather and then the earth will shake, The Great Shaking will take place. When thatGreat Shakingtakes place, the bottoms of those old churches will shake and the spires will come tumbling down…not one stone will be left standing (“Percy Collett goes to Heaven for 5 1/2 days,”YouTube, uploaded by Jason Cox, 36:00)
Neville Johnson – August 2015
Neville Johnson (Perth, Australia) lost a daughter to a car accident and was permitted to see her in heaven. Since then, he has had many visits to heaven, as well as teachings by angels, visions, etc.
A little while back I was along the beach in Perth where the Indian Ocean sweeps in along the west coast of Perth. I was along this beach and looked out at sea and I saw this tidal wave coming in. I though the Lord is giving me this vision, then I thought, maybe it’s not a vision maybe it’s real. This thing was rolling in and I thought, I can’t out run it so I’ll wait. I waited carefully on the beach and I could see it getting closer and closer and I heard it go whoosh over me. I turned around and I saw it rushing in and you know what it demolished? It demolished some government buildings but the buildings it demolished the most were churches. That didn’t look good. The church is going to be different than what we have had in the past. We need lots of wisdom but we need understanding with the wisdom in order to build the house of the Lord.
In this vision I saw, as this wave sweep in across the land, church after church was crumbling under this wave. The true light, the true church was arising. They are exciting times (Lancaster Prophetic Conference Ebook, August 14, 2015, pp. 229-230).
Besides the more contemporary judgments on the “Houses of God” there is a bigger drama at work, with two possible outcomes.
The Short Version is so named because Our Lord said that He would attempt to “cut His work short in righteousness”:
For he will finish the work, and cut it short in righteousness: because a short work will the Lord make upon the earth. (Romans 9:28)
Many signs will be given to help people turn to God:
- Earthquakes (Rev.6:12)
- Darkness (Joel 2:1-2, Amos 5:18-20, Zeph. 1:14–16)
- The Sign of the Son of Man (Mat.24:30, Luk.21:25)
- God’s spirit poured out “on all flesh” (Joel 2:28-32, Isa.35:2)
- Shaking (Heb. 12:26–29)
- The Resurrection & The Rapture (1 Thes.4:14-17, Lk.21:36, Rev.7:9)
If the majority do turn to God, He will be able to “cut His work short in righteousness,” and the horrors described by John in chapters 8-19 of The Revelation of John will not need to come to pass. There will be a small window of opportunity to convert the masses to Christ, which will require “all hands on deck” for Believers.
The Long Version involves the antichrist and the horrors described by John in The Revelation of John chapters 8-19. No one would want to be here for those, and The Rapture will be provided so the righteous can escape – if it must come.
Watch ye therefore, and pray always, that ye may be accounted worthy to escape all these things that shall come to pass, and to stand before the Son of man. (Luke 21:36)
